• Review the Nanny/Caregiver applications provided by Nannies Direct.
• Interview: You are able to interview the Caregiver, in person, either on your own or via 3-way conference call with the assistance of Nannies Direct .
• Once your decision has been made, the job offer must contain Caregiver duties for a child, a senior or disabled person.
• Full time employment must be offered. (Two employers may not share the services of the same nanny).
• There must be a signed contract between the employer and the prospective employee. The Caregiver’s responsibilities should be set out in the contract to ensure that your employee is aware of the conditions of employment you are offering. Nannies Direct will put together a work agreement that has been agreed upon by both the parties.
• You must also provide accommodation that insures privacy, such as a private room with a lock on the door. Your Caregiver pays rent for a room in your home and is entitled to privacy.
• Nannies Direct will complete all the paper work associated with the application procedure to the Canadian Government for the Live-In Caregiver Program.
• Once the application package for the Live-In Caregiver is completed it will be sent to the HRSDC (Human Resources and Social Development Canada). It generally takes 3 – 6 weeks to receive a Validation of Offer of Employment from HRSDC
• Nannies Direct will send the confirmation letter as well as the employer/employee contract to the appropriate office abroad. Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) is responsible for determining whether a foreign Caregiver is eligible to come to Canada under the Live-in Caregiver Program.
• Once the Live-in Caregiver application has been accepted and the interview, medical and police clearance has been passed by the caregiver at the Canadian Embassy abroad, an Employment authorization (Work Permit) will be issued.
• When your Caregiver/Nanny arrives in Canada, she will be greeted by Nannies Direct at the airport. The Caregiver will require 24 – 48 hours to recover from the long journey and jet lag. Nannies Direct will assist the caregiver in all necessary paper work, upon arriving in Canada.  i.e. applying for a Social Insurance number and Health Card
• Nannies Direct will follow up to ensure that the process is running smoothly.

It is the employer's responsibility to keep payroll records, make appropriate deductions and remit all taxes. We will assist you with this process.
